This new British musical is brought to life on stage with original songs from Grammy Award winners Joss Stone and Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics. The story has been adapted for the stage by multi-award-winning playwright Lauren Gunderson and the production is directed by Bill Buckhurst.

This highly anticipated production stars David Hunter and Joanna Woodward as the romantic leads Henry and Clare who are flung apart by time but united by love.

Sunset Boulevard (Savoy Theatre)

The classic musical Sunset Boulevard by Andrew Lloyd Webber has been reimagined for London audiences in this new interpretation directed by Jamie Lloyd. Starring worldwide superstar and pop sensation Nicole Scherzinger in the iconic role as Norma Desmond this production is dazzling audiences’ night after night with its Hollywood glitz and glamour.

Based on the film by Billy Wilder with music and book by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, Sunset Boulevard features all of the classic songs from the original score. Songs such as ‘With One Look’, ‘As If We Never Said Goodbye’, ‘The Perfect Year’ and of course the title song.

The hilarious new comedy Backstairs Billy is a royal affair like no other. The play follows the story of the 50-year friendship between the Queen Mother and her devoted butler William ‘Billy’ Tallon during a time of political and social chaos. Set in 1979 when the Queen Mother’s receptions at her home of Clarence House are in full swing. The champagne is flowing and Billy, her devoted assistant is in charge of the proceedings. Dear England (Prince Edward Theatre)

Dear England


The smash-hit production of Dear England has recently transferred to the West End following a very successful sold-out run at the National Theatre. Dear England theatre tickets are available to book now.

Dear England tells the true story of the England men’s football team under the management of Gareth Southgate. It follows their journey through three significant tournaments, the 2018 World Cup, the 2020 European Championship and the 2022 World Cup. Tackling the question… why can’t England’s men’s football team win at their own game? Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt to take the team and country back to the promised land.

Starring Joseph Fiennes as Gareth Southgate himself, written by James Graham and directed by Rupert Goold. Graham and Goold reunite with this new play following their acclaimed productions of Tammy Faye and Ink.

WEST END SHOWS CLOSING SOON!


The Woman in Black (Fortune Theatre, Closing 4th March) 

The Woman in Black is the second-longest running play on the West End after Agatha’s Christie’s classic ‘Who Dunnit’ The Mousetrap. After playing in London for over 33 years and more than 3000 performances, the spine-chilling horror is officially closing. 

Based on the book by Susan Hill, this spooky ghost story comes to life on stage in this adaptation by Stephen Mallatratt. 

The play tells the story of Arthur Kipps as he recounts his ghostly visit to the remote Eel Marsh House when he visited to deal with the affairs of the recently deceased owner and as the tale unfolds things start to get creepier and creepier. 

Filled with clever special effects, strange happenings and many a jump scare, there’s no wonder that this show has been playing to sold out audiences for over 30 years! 

The Woman in Black will play its final performance on the 4th March 2023 at The Fortune Theatre.

&Juliet (Shaftesbury Theatre, Closing 25th March)

The remixed version of the greatest love story of all time is officially coming to a close in London’s West End. 

From the writers of Schitt’s Creek, &Juliet is a pop musical celebrating the legendary songwriter, Max Martin. Bursting with classic hits we all know and love, including Britney’s ‘Baby One More Time’, Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ and The Backstreet Boy’s ‘I Want It That Way’, this show is one of the best nights out the West End has to offer. 

This clever and witty retelling of Shakespeare’s most well-known tale is taking its final bow on the 25th March 2023 at The Shaftesbury Theatre.

Dirty Dancing at (Dominion Theatre, Closing 29th April) 

‘Nobody puts baby in the corner!’ 

Based on the iconic film from 1987 starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, the stage musical Dirty Dancing is yet again coming to a close on The West End after its short run back at The Dominion Theatre. Including the classic hits from the movie such as ‘(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life’, ‘Do You Love Me’ and ‘Hungry Eyes’. 

It’s the summer of 1963 and 17-year-old Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman is about to learn some major life lesson as well as a thing or two about dancing.

Only Fools and Horses the Musical (Theatre Royal Haymarket, Closing 29th April) 

Based on the record-breaking TV series that still has many watchers today, the critically acclaimed home-grown British musical has made audiences laugh out loud night after night for the past 3 years. 

You could say it’s ‘Lovely Jubbly!’ 

Featuring all the cherished moments that you know and love from the TV series (along with all the dodgy dealings too) but this time with a soundtrack full of catchy songs! The brilliant musical numbers include the iconic theme song, the show has all you need for a right good knees up!

You’d be a plonker to miss this hilarious musical before it closes on the 29th April at The Theatre Royal Haymarket.

Waitress the Musical now stars Sara Bareilles and Gavin Creel

Waitress the Musical composer and lyricist Sara Bareilles is now starring in the West End production of her hit musical at the Adelphi Theatre… and Gavin Creel is here too!

Grammy award winner and composer Sara Bareilles debuts in the West End reprising the role of Jenna that she had already played for two runs on Broadway in 2017 and 2018. For the special occasion, she brought along her Broadway co-star and friend, Tony-winner Gavin Creel as Dr. Pomatter. The pair started performances on 27 January and will perform for a six-weeks run until 7 March 2020.

A Brief History of the Waitress Musical

Waitress The Musical is based on the 2007 film with Keri Russel and follows Jenna, a creative pie-maker who invents new weirdly-named pies according to what’s going on in her life, as she carries through an unwanted pregnancy in an unsatisfying marriage. Her new gynecologist is Dr. Pomatter, an equally clumsy and attractive man who really loves her pies and their maker, and a backing contest is about to be held in a nearby county. Will this give Jenna the strength to find a new recipe for her personal happiness?

Waitress The Musical officially opened at the Adelphi Theatre in March 2019 to enthusiastic reviews and will play in the West End until 4th July 2020 before embarking on a UK Tour! When Bareilles and Creel will end their engagement, the roles of Jenna and Dr. Pomatter will be reprised by Lucie Jones and David Hunter on 9 March.

As Aladdin leaves the Prince Edward after a fantastic run – we welcome another world famous favourite back to London! With this classic musical returning to its original home – this stage adaptation is produced by Cameron Mackintosh, and brings together to fantastic Zizi Strallen (Strictly Ballroom) & Charlie Stemp (Half a Sixpence). Another world famous production coming to our stages, this time in the form of Arthur Miller’s timeless classic. This production took the critics by storm at the Young Vic this year, and it comes to London starring Wendell Pierce as the iconic leading role of Willy Loman. Time for Change


There is movement in the West End. No other year has been this exciting nor has there been such a turnover of shows. The West End is changing and this is a good thing.

Currently all theatre play lovers are flocking to the West End, the rate of new high calibre actors and plays has been shooting through the roof. There is something for everyone and with theatres like The Trafalgar Studios who’s playbill changes every four to six weeks, you can see something new and amazing every month.AladdinBig time shows also close, making space for new ones. Biggest of them all; ALADDIN. The closing date is August 31st 2019, still some time but we all know that as soon as school holidays hit, this will be a hunt for tickets. Our top tip, see it now because for the month of May from Monday to Thursday afternoon, there is no booking fee. Great seats for an even greater price, well there’s a bargain right

WaitressFor friends of the musical WAITRESS; Katherine McPhee will leave the show after her final performance early June. If London’s West End darlings Marisha Wallace and Laura Baldwin will stay on, is yet unclear. So for now you can still have your pie and eat it too.

JamieAs well as everybody’s talking about Jamie. Both Shane Richie and Hayley Tamaddon will be with the cast until 4 May 2019. Faye Tozer will play the role of Miss Hedge from 6 May to 3 August 2019. CuriousThe deja-vu is real. We said goodbye before and we do it again. The Curious incident of the Dog in the night-Time is leaving the West End again. We enjoyed it as much as we did two years ago

 

PriceArthur Miller’s The Price will also close next week giving way to another star struck play. You can still catch it before it’s too late.   The constant changes make this season one of the most versatile and celebrated ones so far. Stay tuned to see what’s more to come.
