Just For One Day New shows west end

This new show’s the only new musical coming out this month. 40 years on from the actual event, Just For One Day is based on the run up to Live Aid. Live Aid was an unprecedended charity fundraiser used to raise awareness and money for the famine in Ethiopia. Created by Bob Geldolf and Midge Ure, Live Aid brought 1.5 billion people together. These 1.5 billion all have a story to tell of their experience and the show does just that. The musical features songs by artists who played at this event across London and America. It features hits by artists such as David Bowie, Queen, Madonna and many more icons of the time.

It is coming the the West End following a 99% sold out run at the Old Vic. The show has been prouduced with special permission of the artists involved, The Band Aid Charitable Trust and Bob Geldof himself. When they announced the show earlier this year Geldof gave this statement:

“My comment before I saw Just For One Day was that ‘it better not be s**t.’ It’s not s**t! It is FANTASTIC. Joyous, largely true, and the music is beyond miraculous. I have never been to a show where night after night there is a standing ovation at THE INTERMISSION!! Amazing.”

What’s more, 10% of all ticket sales for this production will be donated to the Band Aid Chairtable Trust.

STEREOPHONIC
Duke of York’s Theatre – opens 24th May

Stereophonic new shows west end

This new show is coming to London following its sucessful Broadway run. In fact, the show was so sucessful it is the most Tony Award nominated play of all time. Out of its 13 nominations, it won 5 of them. It is about the ups and downs of creating music. The story takes place in a music studio in 1976. It follows an up-and-coming rock band recording a new album as they find themselves suddenly on the cusp of superstardom. A tale as old as time, will the empending stardom make or break them? The show aims to immerse the audience with fly-on-the-wall intimacy in the powder keg process of a band on the brink of blowing up.

Stereophonic was written by David Adjumi and Will Butler wrote the music. As a former member of an indie-rock band himself, we’re excited to hear Butler’s original songs for this show. Although the new show features original songs, it is in fact a play with the actors playing music and singing live on stage. As the show has been on before elsewhere in the world, long time cast members Eli Gelb, Andrew R Butler and Chris Stack are rejoining the west end cast.

Stereophonic is playing at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 24th May – 20th September 2025, book your tickets here.
