We all want to celebrate those closest to us in our lives and what better way than spending some quality time at a West End show. Les Miserables<\/a><\/p>\n

This worldwide phenomenon has now played for over 30 years in London’s West End, beginning at the Barbican, then transferring to the Palace Theatre before moving to the Queen’s Theatre,<\/u> which it has called home since April 2004. This musical features a wealth of interwoven story lines,<\/u> including the tragic tale of Fantine and her daughter Cosette. We don’t want to give away too much but Fantine’s undying love for her child supersedes adversity, culminating in her giving her child the best life she can. There won’t be a dry eye in the house!<\/p>\n

Mamma Mia!<\/a><\/p>\n

This ABBA jukebox musical has one of the best on-stage mothers in recent memory. Donna Sheridan is sassy, funny and a bit insecure, but best of all, warm-hearted to both her daughter and her friends. The tale of a mother and her grown up daughter’s relationship will make you both laugh and cry as they plan for her upcoming wedding. Bonus: you get to listen to the music of ABBA as the story is told.<\/p>\n

Wicked<\/a> (*SPOILERS AHEAD*)<\/u><\/p>\n

Despite the lack of mothers in this musical, it is this absence which makes this story a must-see close to Mother’s Day 2017. Elphaba’s mother tragically dies in childbirth after giving birth to an emerald green child. Consequently, Elphaba’s Father (the Govenor of Munchkinland) attempts to ensure his second child doesn’t meet the same fate as unfortunately, this attempt ends tragically. It is heart-warming to see the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Wicked Witch of the West\u00e2\u20ac\u009d grow up into a feisty, strong and compassionate character in spite of <\/u>her circumstances. Through the help of her friend Glinda, she overcomes the guilt and grief of her mother’s death.<\/p>\n

Motown the Musical<\/a><\/p>\n

This musical will excite and delight all those who grew up in the Motown era or benefited from its influence. Featuring music from Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie, The Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Edwin Starr and Diana Ross, this musical tells the story of Berry Gordy and Motown records. Motown the Musical has been a smash hit on both sides of the pond and has recently extended its run until 24 February 2018.<\/p>\n

Beautiful The Carole King Musical<\/a><\/p>\n

This jukebox musical tells the story of renowned singer-songwriter Carole King using her own music. Featuring songs including ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’, ‘One Fine Day’, ‘Chains’, ‘You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman’, ‘I Feel the Earth Move’, and of course, ‘Beautiful’, you won’t be able to resist a night at the Aldwych Theatre with your mum, dancing the night away.<\/p>\n

Jersey Boys<\/a><\/p>\n

It just so happens that Mother’s Day 2017 coincides with the last performance of the Jersey Boys in the West End, so we’d recommend an early Mother’s Day treat if you’re wishing to see this show. To avoid disappointment on the big day, book sooner rather than later as there’s currently extremely limited availability for tickets on the weekend of 25-26th<\/sup> March – a weekday performance beforehand may be ideal.<\/p>\n
