About The Show
Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed fully-staged new production of Boublil and Schönberg’s LES MISERABLES is now playing at London’s Sondheim Theatre and is the longest-running musical in the world. The musical has been running in The West End for nearly 40 years and is still a fan favorite for both regular theatergoers and non-theatre-goers alike.
With an incredible ensemble cast and based on the French Literary classic by Victor Hugo, the show tells the story of Jean Valjean, a French peasant, and his desire for redemption. Having been released in 1815 after serving nineteen years in jail for stealing a loaf of bread, Valjean decides to start a new life but a police inspector named Javert refuses to let him escape justice.
Alongside this, a group of young idealists attempts to overthrow the government at a street barricade in Paris.
Seen by over 130 million people worldwide in 53 countries and in 22 languages, LES MISERABLES is full of beautiful music and heart-breaking storylines. It’s no wonder it has been running for so many years.
The unbelievable score includes songs such as ‘I Dreamed A Dream, ‘On My Own, ‘Bring Him Home, ‘Do You Hear the People Sing’, ‘Stars’, At the End of the Day and ‘One Day More’.
