5 OF LONDON’S MUST SEE MUSICALS RIGHT NOW!

WICKED

WICKED has recently celebrated its 6000th performance and has been one of the most popular musicals on London’s West End for almost 16 years.

We all know the classic story of The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy famously triumphed over The Wicked Witch of the West but do we know everything? We only heard one side of the story after all!

Based on Gregory Maguire’s acclaimed 1995 novel, ‘Wicked: The life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’. The story re-imagines the Land of Oz, creating a parallel universe to the well-known story originally written by L. Frank Baum in 1900.

We follow the story of an unlikely friendship between 2 young women, Elphaba and Glinda. After their encounter with ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ their lives take very different paths that lead them to eventually become ‘The Wicked Witch of the West’ and ‘Glinda the Good’.

Book tickets now for an ‘Ozmipolitan night out because there really is ‘no place like WICKED!’

&JULIET

The greatest love story of all time has now been ‘remixed’. We’re saying ‘Romeo who’??

&JULIET is from the writer of Schitt’s Creek and is jam packed with many classic pop songs that you will definitely recognise from the legendary songwriter Max Martin. The show includes hits such as Britney’s ‘Baby One More Time’, Katy Perry’s ‘Roar, The Backstreet Boys’ ‘I Want It That Way’ and a brand-new song written especially for the musical ‘One More Try’.

The story sees Shakespeare’s wife Anne Hathaway reimagine his classic tale and we find out what might have happened if Juliet didn’t kill herself after Romeo dies. We follow Juliet as she travels to Verona to ‘live her best life’ with her new best friends. Will Juliet finally get the ending she deserves and is there really life after Romeo?

Waitress the Musical composer and lyricist Sara Bareilles is now starring in the West End production of her hit musical at the Adelphi Theatre… and Gavin Creel is here too!

Grammy award winner and composer Sara Bareilles debuts in the West End reprising the role of Jenna that she had already played for two runs on Broadway in 2017 and 2018. For the special occasion, she brought along her Broadway co-star and friend, Tony-winner Gavin Creel as Dr. Pomatter. The pair started performances on 27 January and will perform for a six-weeks run until 7 March 2020.

A Brief History of the Waitress Musical

Waitress The Musical is based on the 2007 film with Keri Russel and follows Jenna, a creative pie-maker who invents new weirdly-named pies according to what’s going on in her life, as she carries through an unwanted pregnancy in an unsatisfying marriage. Her new gynecologist is Dr. Pomatter, an equally clumsy and attractive man who really loves her pies and their maker, and a backing contest is about to be held in a nearby county. Will this give Jenna the strength to find a new recipe for her personal happiness?

Waitress The Musical officially opened at the Adelphi Theatre in March 2019 to enthusiastic reviews and will play in the West End until 4th July 2020 before embarking on a UK Tour! When Bareilles and Creel will end their engagement, the roles of Jenna and Dr. Pomatter will be reprised by Lucie Jones and David Hunter on 9 March.
